About Links and Linking
There has been a recent movement to allow more link love to flow in the SEOsphere. I like the idea of letting people get some juice from the sites they participate in, but this doesn't always work out well. Recently, DaveN, Joost, and many others bloggers have had to slap the pink links back on because they've been over run with uh, "comments."
It's not about hording PageRank, it's about having a good site. Comments motivated by PageRank usually suck. I think that's the reason many bloggers where putting the pinks back on. The conversations on their sites took a turn for the worst with stuff like:
hey nice post :) a href => thin affiliate site
I totally understand though. Getting links is a bitch sometimes, but ultimately everybody wins when linking is motivated by adding value to the community. It makes the site better, and more people link to it, and then your links on the site pass more juice to you. See how that works? Think long term.
There is only one rule for linking on this site:
- Don't be the jerk that forces the pink links back on and ruins the party.
Thanks,
